Free lecture at : “Canoeing With the Cree” with Mahoosuc Guide Service’s Polly Mahoney. 6/3, 7 P.M.
I’m hoping to make this, should be a great time. I don’t know the folks personally at Mahoosuc, but have heard a lot of great things about them.
Added about $50 in new flies to the arsenal today, pretty excited about that! The smaller of the two cases shown has a reverse side with more in it. Doing ok in this country! Thanks to Tony, Vicki and Jason for getting me going ; )
Went out early this morning and did some fly fishing. Not much else to say there. Other than the beaver that was swimming around when I got there, it was pretty quiet. We’ll try that again later on this evening.
I went back to the same couple spots as yesterday with rod and reel. Caught quite a few fish, though nothing to write home about. One more white perch, a decent yellow, a few pickerel……and of course, that monster bass that got away haha! True story. Right at the shore he decided to come out of the water and do the spinning release your lure trick! I guess there is a reason they sell nets. Here are some pics:
Tomorrow will be an early rise and shine. Planning on waking up early and heading to the fly fishing spot for a couple of hours at least. Then it is back home to wait on the lawnmower repair guy to show up at 0930. Hope he shows in a timely manner, as I don’t intend on waiting around for him much. Then its back off to the fishing hole for a few more hours, enjoying the very long weekend.
After the fishing winds down, the evening shall belong to the Lord.
So went back out with the family again this afternoon and had some more luck. I started out by catching a few white perch. Let the wife and little guy reel in a couple as well. I believe a couple also got away. When it slowed down we moved spots and the little guy was all over the yellow perch, so much fun to watch. He is a champ at casting as well. The wife and I caught a few pickerel, and sadly the day came to an end. These are the good o’l days!
Went out this morning with the family. I had a few hits on the fly rod that I didn’t land, but did end up with a small white fish and a decent brook trout. Not a bad couple hours spent. Pic of the little man letting the brookie go. Heading back out momentarily!
After a couple years of waiting, we had our first student complete our Ledger 1 home study course. So we have recently made Ledger 2 available on the store. Ledger two is only the inserts to go into your already purchased binder from Ledger 1….but packed with more hands on projects.
Had a mini clam boil this evening for dinner. It consisted of; 2 lobsters, 2lbs steamed clams, 2 fillets of haddock, potatoes and corn. What you don’t see is the dozen cherrystones I ate on the half-shell with horse radish and cocktail sauce. All topped off with a glass of wine for the wife and a Miller High Life for myself!
After the potatoes and corn were boiled in water, the water was drained and two beers were dumped in the pot to steam everything. Delish!
Looking to do a legit clam boil during the Woodcraft Kitchen series, stay tuned!

25 “Most truly I say to you, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who have paid attention will live. 26 For just as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted also to the Son to have life in himself. 27 And he has given him authority to do judging, because he is the Son of man. 28 Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment. 30 I cannot do a single thing of my own initiative. Just as I hear, I judge, and my judgment is righteous because I seek, not my own will, but the will of him who sent me.”
